I must say – Jeff was a Very Special Cat.

He was more like a dog than a cat.  He would sit up and give me his paw.  He was always waiting at the door when I came home from work.

He slept with me every nite and would Not go to bed until I did.

Jeff was a real lap cat.  Whenever I sat down, he was there on my lap and we both loved it.

He was a wonderful companion and my good friend.

Jeff died in 2005 at the age of 16 years.  I still miss My Special  Boy.

Author:  Boykin’s Mom

Boykin’s passing on Friday, August 2, 2013, marks a 19 year lifespan for “My Wonderful Boykin Boy” Maine Coon Cat.

Maine Coon cats  have wonderfulBoykin, Maine Coon Cat temperaments and Boykin was never ill during his entire 19 years of life.

Boykin shared my office chair with me and it is not the same without him.

He was the Alpha male of my cat family and the other four (4) are now quite lost without him.

Bonnie Sue, Boykin’s sister, passed three (3) years ago.

Boykin is now reunited with his sister, Bonnie Sue and My Mom in “Heaven’s Paradise”.

It is with time that my heart will heal knowing that one day we will all be together again.

Until we meet again, Good Night for now,  “My Sweet Boykin”.

I was the” Apple of Her Eye”, and I knew it!  She came to me in my time of need and took me home to live with her.  We were good together picture of Alexanderfrom the very beginning.  The very first thing I did when I walked into her house, was to go straight to her bed, jump up on it, turned my head to look at her and said ,   “I want to sleep here too!”  She spoke to me softly and stroked my head gently, and I knew her answer was-OK…  We became  bed partners through thick and thin.

Being the friendly cat I was, I greeted  her friends with enthusiasm and some I would sit in their lap.  I did have my favorites though…

I was a really good boy, even if I say so myself, and never clawed the furniture, which she was grateful for.  On occasions, I would need to dull my claws a bit, so I picked  an older rug which was ok with her.  This was very rare, of course !

Riding around on her shoulder was a favorite for me.  Relaxing  in her lap was another and  going to sleep at night with my head resting in her hand  topped them all…

We had five wonderful years together and  she knows I am waiting for her at Rainbow Bridge  where we will  cross over together.

Fluffy

Author: Fluffy’s Mom

Fluffy was born in our backyard.  He was the son of Cookie, our cat that adopted us.

He was so fluffy that we thought he was a girl for the first month or more.

Such a “Talker” he was.  I miss  his “Hello” when coming home.  He was my Cuddle-Buddy, especially at night.  In the morning, if I did not get up after the alarm rang, he would gently pat my cheek.  I miss the comfort of cuddling with him.

Fluffy gave me  much Love and Joy during the fourteen years (14) of his live .  Such a Tender Spirit He Was.

Cookie found me by showing up on my porch back in 1997, and would not take no for an answer.  She appeared to be a bit overweight.  It wasn’t very  long before we found out  she was overweight for a good reason!  We found her beautiful  litter of kittens in the backyard.

Cookie had the loudest and strangest purr ever heard.  It sounded like a cross between a pigeon, a mourning dove picture of Cookie- Beautiful Gray Catand a freight train at 4x the volume.

She loved to be petted and would relax so much that sometime she would start to drool.

Cookie was such a sweet and loving girl.  When friends would come to visit, she always seemed  to  find a way to slip into their lap.

Cookie was truly “One Of A Kind”

I was fortunate to have shared  15 years with “My Sweet Cookie”.

Rowan

Adorable  Rowan
~

Author:  Rowan’s Mom

Rowan found us 10 years ago.  She was our most damaged cat emotionally, and was a mess.  Her fur was as stiff as a porcupine and whenever you said anything that sounded remotely cross, she would vomit.  Her nerves were shattered and she was very much in need of a quiet , loving, home.  With our  love and care, her fur softened up and she became healthier,  slowing trusting us.

She is the champion of the household now.  She is a fierce girl and no one messes with her, and better not with any of us.  Everyone says she is so sweet, but I thinkAdorable Rowan relaxing in a box in front of a window the racoon she pinned on the deck would have a different story to tell!

Rowan is very social and will comfort anyone in pain.  She knows my return time from work and waits on the deck for me until I come home.  She sleeps on  top of my head and wakes me up a couple of times a night for a hug by tapping me with her paw until I wake up.

My husband has taught her  to lay on her back when she wants soft food.  When she first learned this, we would find her in the hallway on her back waiting for her soft food.  Now, when she hears the can open, she picks out a spot where  she wants to eat and we follow her or find her.  She loves to change places constantly…

She is our nature girl and likes to go out on the deck in all kinds of weather.  Being alone outside is not safe for her because we have coyotes here, so I take her out on a leash in the garden every day, as she loves that.  It is our dream to have a safe fenced in yard for her some day.  We adore her with all our heart…

Tavish

Mr. Tavish
~

Author:  Tavish’s Mom

Tavish came to us from a shelter in Portland.  My husband and I  went looking for a dog and ended up in the cat section.  We asked the volunteer to show us the sweetest cat and she said without hesitation, “He is in the sick ward”.   He was watching as we approached his cage and  reached his paw out and caressed my face.  It was “Love At First Sight”.

When he was first with us, he would steal items like rings, earrings, and anything else that was shiny and hide them in secret places.  His favorite hiding place was under rugs.Curious Tavish - Tabby Cat  He loves to jump to your shoulder and go for walks outside like that.

Surfing:   He is a very curious animal and a little accident prone.    One night he was up late with me and evidently leaning against the screen to hard, watching some racoons.  The screen popped out and he went  “surfing on the screen”,  flying down two stories.   Thankfully,  I heard something and went around to let him in,   unharmed.

He is a loving boy who is very simple in his needs.  Give him a little shoulder time, some treats, stand by him when he eats and he is happy.   He likes to hold hands and sleeps cheek to cheek for some of the night.  He has been with us 13 years and is still the sweetest boy.

Hopi (Or)

Sweet  Hopi
~

Author:  Hopi’s Mom

Our “Sweet Little Hopi” was found by my husband, after he saw her run over by a car in front of him on a busy Portland street.  He took her to a veterinary emergency clinic  to save her.   She had a fractured hip, so they did emergency surgery and pinned her little hip.

Her New Home:   We brought her home to live with us, and believe that was the first time she had ever been inside a house.  We made her a  comfortable and cozy bed in a very  large kennel to keep her private.   We were so afraid the 6 weeks of confinement she would need  for healing, would be stressful for her.  She was such a good girl,  did really well  and loved her kennel…  She adored and bonded with our cat Tavish.

Hopi was the sweetest and happiest little cat I have ever seen.  She loved to  play, was quite a talker and talked to us all the time.  She had such a wonderful spirit…

She died at 4 years old after a short illness.  I have her picture by my meditation bench and she helps me persist in this world.  I can still feel “Her Spirit” and “Her Love”.  Hopi knows ” I love her” where ever she is.

Just a bit about me, Little Ole` Toby.   I was born in 1998 in N.C.   The first 11 years of my life was a happy and content one.  Listening to Classical Music was a favorite pastime for me and my dad.  All of that changed, though, when my dad became to sick to take care of me in the spring of 2009.   Although he lovingly  took me to a sanctuary shelter to await for adoption, it was never the same as “Home”.

Forward to  early fall  of 2009…    My future mom  lost her ” Beloved Alexander”  and was grieving.   I was still waiting in a cage, to be adopted.Toby Playing Tiger (rolling around back and forth on the floor)  So where do you think we met?   You guessed it–we met through the internet. My new mom came to the shelter to meet me and made  all the arrangements for my adoption.  Wow, I sure was looking forward to having a “Home” again…

Fast forward three years later…  My mom and I are truly  happy together!  I get to play musical chairs all day, roll on the floor playing tiger and sleep with my mom at night.  I even have my own  “Toby Cubes” to sit on in front of the windows for my sunbathe  and watching the birds.

It’s really good to have my “Forever Home” again…

Update April 2015 – Author:  Toby’s Mom

My Sweet Toby lived to be 17 years and 2 months old.  He was a real sweetheart, smart as a whip, and a truly  wonderful bed buddy.  We were very bonded and communicated extremely well.  He was my best friend.  Toby knew I loved him and I know that he loved me.  That  is the comfort that helps us when we are parted from our pets.

His spirit lives and I know we will one day meet again.  Good nite my little darling…  I love you.
